Holding a 10-3 lead and facing 3rd-and-goal at the Kansas City one-yard-line early in the third quarter, the Bills made a potentially game-altering mistake.
Quarterback Jeff Tuel threw a short pass intercepted by Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith, who returned it 100 yards for the game-tying touchdown. The pass appeared to be intended for wideout T.J. Graham.
The Chiefs, who are attempting to run their record to 9-0, would later add a Ryan Succop field goal to take a 13-10 third-quarter lead at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York.
On the Bills’ next drive, Buffalo drove into Kansas City territory, but a fourth-down pass intended for Graham sailed long and incomplete.
