Agent supposedly said in January that Saban would leave Alabama only for Texas

Saban

During his second season as coach of the Dolphins, Nick Saban became the Alabama coach after insisting on multiple occasions that he wouldn’t be the Alabama coach. In his seventh season as the Alabama coach, speculation has returned regarding a potential departure.

But not for the NFL.

According to the Associated Press, an email obtained via a public records request indicates that agent Jimmy Sexton told Texas officials that Texas is the only school for which Saban would consider leaving Alabama, and that Saban’s success in Tuscaloosa has created “special pressure” for Saban.

The email, written in late September, characterizes a conversation with Sexton from January.

Saban, 62, has won a total of four BCS national championships, one with LSU and three with Alabama. The Crimson Tide currently is in contention for its third straight national title.
