Randy Bullock missed three field goals in the Texans’ 27-24 loss to the Colts on Sunday night, which is exactly the sort of thing that can lead to a kicker losing his job.
The Texans are certainly open to the notion of replacing Bullock. John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the team will be hosting several kickers for tryouts on Tuesday.
Neil Rackers, Shayne Graham and Justin Medlock will be in Houston to show their stuff. It would be a return engagement for Rackers, who kicked for the Texans in 2010 and 2011, and Graham, who kicked for them last year when Bullock went on injured reserve. Medlock has never played for the Texans and made 7-of-10 field goals in 10 games with the Panthers last season.
Bullock was a fifth-round pick last year, but he’s made just 13-of-21 field goals this season and that conversion rate may be just low enough that it doesn’t matter that the team invested a draft choice in him so recently.
