The Broncos are making the most of their scoring chances. The Chargers are not. As a result, Denver is close to taking complete control of Sunday’s game at San Diego.

In five first-half possessions lasing just 7:31, the Broncos scored three touchdowns, all on Peyton Manning passes, to take a 21-6 halftime lead at Qualcomm Stadium.

Manning has been outstanding, completing 17-of-22 passes for 243 yards. Two TD passes have gone to wideout Demaryius Thomas, with the other a 74-yard reception by tight end Julius Thomas.

The Chargers, meanwhile, have just two field goals in six possessions taking 22:29. Despite having the time-of-possession edge, San Diego has been outgained 246-199.

It gets worse for the Chargers: the Broncos will receive the second-half kickoff.
