All week, the Raiders and quarterback Terrelle Pryor downplayed the severity of a sprained MCL in Pryor’s knee, but Pryor was singing a different tune after Oakland’s 24-20 loss to the Giants.
Pryor had an awful game throwing the ball, completing just 11-of-26 passes behind a leaky offensive line, and he clearly lacked some of the explosiveness we’ve seen from him as a runner in previous weeks this season. Pryor said after the game that he knew when he woke up in the morning that his knee was going to give him trouble during the game
“My knee’s banged up,” Pryor said, via Scott Ostler of the San Francisco Chronicle. “Not discouraged. My leg is very sore and I’m out there trying to do my best, and it wasn’t doing anything. I wasn’t able to, and I wasn’t myself. With more treatment, hopefully this thing cures up fast.”
There was sloppiness across the board from the Raiders in a game they lost because they made a few more mistakes than the slightly more composed Giants, but it was hard to miss Pryor in the center of things. It’s now been four bad games in a row for the quarterback, three of which the Raiders have lost, and the promise of the early season has given way to questions about Pryor’s place in the Raiders’ future.
