Bills rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel looked like a rookie quarterback in his first game back from knee problems last week.

This week, he might have to try to improve without his top two receivers.

Via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News, the Bills were without both Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods in practice today.

Bills coach Doug Marrone said Woods (ankle) definitely wouldn’t play, while there was still some uncertainty about Johnson, who has been slowed by groin and hip problems.

From a recovery standpoint, it makes sense, given the Bills have a bye week coming the following week. But it doesn’t do Manuel any favors against the Jets defense.
