Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson missed his second straight practice on Thursday, but there’s not much fear that he’s going to miss Sunday’s game against the Steelers.

Tim Twentyman of the team’s website reports that the man they call Megatron said on Thursday that he was dealing with some “maintenance issues” that kept him from practicing. While the nickname and the word maintenance conjure up images of flux capacitors in need of repair, we imagine that they actually involve the knee injury that kept him out of one game and limited him in another earlier this season.

Whether it Johnson does not think that the maintenance will require him to miss the matchup with Pittsburgh. Johnson has 29 catches for 567 yards and five touchdowns in the Lions’ last three games and the team’s not going to count on him any less in the future, so it is in the team’s best interest to do anything they can to make sure Johnson makes it to the field as close to 100 percent as possible.

For this week, it looks like that means a light practice schedule.
