Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson didn’t practice on Wednesday, but that wasn’t much cause for concern.

Johnson getting a rest day isn’t anything new, especially not since he suffered a knee injury that kept him out of one game earlier this season. Missing two days in a row is something different, however.

Johnson didn’t practice with his Lions mates again on Thursday, something that Tim Twentyman of the team’s website points out hasn’t happened in weeks. That at least makes one want to hear what the team or Johnson might have to say after practice about the condition of his knee as the team readies itself for Sunday’s game against the Steelers.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Nate Burleson is unlikely to make his return from a broken arm this week. While his presence wouldn’t make it any easier to play without Johnson, his absence would leave them even thinner if they find themselves without their biggest offensive weapon.
