Dolphins center Mike Pouncey is questionable for Sunday’s game with the Chargers after he missed Friday’s practice.
Pouncey’s absence was chalked up to an illness and Jeff Darlington of NFL Network reports that the illness was severe enough to send Pouncey to the hospital. Darlington reports that Pouncey was dealing with kidney and gallbladder issues that needed immediate medical attention.
Reports out of Miami since Friday have all maintained that Pouncey will play against San Diego and Darlington reports that Pouncey has maintained hope that he’ll be able to be on the field. Darlington believes that thoughts of Pouncey playing are based on that hope rather than actuality, but there probably won’t be any official word until the Dolphins release their list of inactive players later on Sunday.
The Dolphins promoted center Sam Brenner from the practice squad on Saturday to give them more depth on their ravaged offensive line.
UPDATE 10:07 a.m. ET: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Pouncey will not play on Sunday.
