Eagles’ Fletcher Cox: RG3 is right, we knew what was coming

Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III said after Sunday’s loss at Philadelphia that it seemed like the Eagles’ defense “knew what was coming.” One player on the Eagles’ defense says RG3 is absolutely right.

Eagles defensive end Fletcher Cox, who pressured Griffin into a game-ending interception, told CSNPhilly.com that Washington’s tendencies on offense were predictable enough that he was able to say what they were doing on some plays before they snapped the ball.

“I think I got into a rhythm going into the game. Actually a few of the plays I called them out before they happened,” Cox said. “It all came from studying film and knowing when things were going to happen before they happened.”

That doesn’t speak well for coach Mike Shanahan and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s game plan. Although Griffin threw two long touchdown passes and converted on two two-point conversions in the fourth quarter to make the 24-16 final score look respectable, for most of the game, Washington’s offense looked like it was playing right into the hands of Philadelphia’s defense.
