Birk upholds Walden suspension

Walden

One day, two suspensions appealed, both upheld.

According to NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, hearing officer Matt Birk has sustained the one-game suspension imposed on linebacker Erik Walden for that helmet-to-no-helmet hit on Titans tight end Delanie Walker.

At a base salary of $3 million, Walden will lose $176,470.58 during his one week off. He’ll also miss an important game against the 6-4 Cardinals in Arizona.

The decision to uphold the Walden suspension and the one-game Dashon Goldson suspension make the NFL 2-0 this week, a pair of key victories for the league after having a string of suspensions either overturned or reduced.
