Doctors hoping to avoid gallbladder surgery for Pouncey

While there seems to be no end in sight to the different ways the Dolphins can lose offensive linemen this year, they’re hoping for good news about getting one of them back.

According to Jeff Darlington of the NFL Network, center Mike Pouncey is hoping to avoid surgery, after being taken to the hospital last week with kidney and gallbladder issues.

Darlington reports doctors will try to treat him with medication rather than removing the gallbladder, which would obviously mean a lengthy absence.

Of course, Pouncey has a few other issues at the moment, which aren’t exactly conducive to gastric health.

Pouncey didn’t play last week, leaving Miami scrambling for blockers, after losing Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito to a bullying scandal, along with backup tackle Will Yeatman to the more traditional torn ACL.

  1. Jonathan Martin’s well connected, Harvard educated family is slowly killing each of the Dolphins bullies one by one with polonium-210.

  2. So to recap, they’ve lost their starting LT Long to free agency, the other starting tackle and one of their guards (Incognito & Martin) to bullying, and now their C to gallbladder issues.

The other linemen must feel like they’re in a “Final Destination” movie.

  3. I can’t believe how many bad things have happened so far to the Dolphins offensive line. It’s been like an implosion! Can we expect for something else?

  4. I sure hope the NFL investigation of the Martin situation gets done promptly and without destroying what is left of the team. I am sick and tired of hearing/reading about it. Martin enjoying himself on the sidelines at Stanford really turned off some people.
The good news: the o-line played no worse against San Diego than they did the past several weeks, even with being 4 starters down. Hope the meds work for Pouncey and he can get healthy and return to play soon. It does not look like either Martin or Incognito will be back so the Dolphins will have a patchwork o-line the rest of the season. But if they can block like they did the first 3 quarters of the SD game, we may be ok.

  5. Lengthy absence? C’mon Darrin, it’s a laparoscopic procedure these days. All you end up with is a small scar near your belly button. 2 days of discomfort tops.

Had the out patient surgery myself 10 years ago to remove mine.
