Charles Johnson is out for Sunday

Johnson

In less than a day, “more than likely” became “absolutely.”

Panthers defensive end Charles Johnson will miss Sunday’s game at Carolina; according to Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, Johnson officially is out. As the Panthers try to run their winning streak to seven games, they won’t have a guy who has racked up 8.5 sacks so far this season.

Johnson suffered an MCL sprain on Monday night, when he was on the wrong end of a Marcus Cannon leg whip. It’ll be interesting to know -- and we likely will later today -- whether Cannon gets fined for the infraction, for which there was no flag.

The 7-3 Panthers play the 5-5 Dolphins in Miami on Sunday. Johnson is regarded as week-to-week with the injury.
