The NFC East has been sloppy all season, so it’s no surprise that the Cowboys and Giants are playing a sloppy game on Sunday.
Just after the Cowboys extended their lead to 15 points thanks in large part to a pair of personal fouls by the Giants defense, the Cowboys closed the gap back to eight when Eli Manning found tight end Brandon Myers for a 27-yard touchdown pass. The play was made possible with a heaping helping of assistance from Cowboys linebacker Bruce Carter and safety Jeff Heath.
Myers dove to make the catch for a first down on a fourth-and-three, but neither Cowboy defender thought it wise to touch him and make sure that he was down. Myers, showing a bit more cleverness than his opponents, hopped to his feet and ran into the end zone for a touchdown that made the score 21-13 in the third quarter.
The Cowboys had a promising drive into Giants territory after the Myers score, aided by another personal foul against Giants defensive end Mathias Kiwanuka, but a Cullen Jenkins sack forced a punt with a minute to play in the third quarter.
