Winning seven games in a row is impressive enough.

Winning them the way the Panthers are winning them lately is little short of amazing.

Cam Newton authored his third straight fourth-quarter comeback, as the Panthers escaped to beat the Dolphins 20-16 on the road to improve to 8-3.

Newton capped another impressive late-game drive (which included going for a fourth-and-10 deep in their own territory) by hitting Greg Olsen for the game-winning score.

After beating the Patriots Monday night the same way, the Panthers are on an amazing run. They used to lose all the close games, and Ron Rivera’s 5-14 record in games decided by a touchdown or less still doesn’t look good. But they’ve won three straight that way (including on the road at San Francisco), establishing them as NFC contenders.

Games against the suddenly hot Buccaneers and two against the Saints loom, but the Panthers proved worthy by escaping on a day which seemed destined to be a trap game.
