Shanahan denies that Griffin wanted negative plays to not be shown to team

The network owned by the league has shifted its effort to drive a wedge between the Steelers and Ben Roethlisberger to driving a wedge between the Redskins and Robert Griffin III.

More accurately, between Griffin and coach Mike Shanahan.

Mike Silver of NFLN reports that Griffin enjoyed kid-gloves treatment at Baylor, with some of his bad plays not being shown in team meetings.

“I am told by someone familiar with the situation that he asked the Redskins to do the same, and that request was rebuffed,” Silver said, via CSNWashington.com.

Shanahan denies it. Strongly.

“Robert did not request that I not show negative plays,” Shanahan said, via CSNWashington.com. “Completely false. No truth that he asked me to do that.”

In September, we reported that at least one player perceived a change in the way Shanahan treats Griffin in front of other players, talking to Griffin “like a regular player.” The Redskins strongly disputed the claim.

There can be no dispute that problems exist in Washington. They’ll go away only if/when the team wins.
