Back when Dolphins guard Richie Incognito was only known as an instigator on the playing field, Texans defensive end Antonio Smith was suspended for two preseason games and one regular season game for ripping Incognito’s helmet off and attempting to use it as a weapon to bludgeon the Dolphin blocker.

Smith ran afoul of the league again in Week 12 when he was penalized for roughing Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne in the third quarter of Jacksonville’s 13-6 victory. The punishment wasn’t as severe this time around, however.

PFT has confirmed with the league that Smith was fined $15,750 for the hit, which helped move the Jaguars deeper into Texans territory. It didn’t wind up costing the Texans any points because J.J. Watt was able to block a field goal attempt by Josh Scobee after the drive stalled a few players later.

Smith didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday this week because of a personal reason, but he returned to work on Friday and is expected to be in the lineup against the Patriots.
