Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe has been hospitalized with an illness, the team announced.

According to a statement released by the Broncos, Wolfe became sick on the team bus to the Denver airport before the Broncos flew to Kansas City on Friday. He was examined by the team’s medical staff on the bus and then taken by ambulance to the hospital.

The statement says doctors are currently evaluating Wolfe’s illness and attempting to determine the cause of his symptoms. No details about the symptoms were given. Wolfe will not play Sunday against the Chiefs.

Wolfe also became ill during the preseason. At the time he attributed his sickness to food poisoning.
