John Harbaugh: If Dennis Pitta can play, he will

The dust has settled after Week 13 and the Ravens control their own playoff destiny.

Should Baltimore win out, the worst they’ll be is a Wild Card team in the AFC and a remaining game against the Bengals means that the AFC North title isn’t out of reach yet. It won’t be easy as they close with trips to Detroit and Cincinnati sandwiched around a visit from New England. The Ravens have a little more than a week to decide whether or not tight end Dennis Pitta will be part of that effort.

Pitta must be moved to the active roster by December 11 or he’ll revert to injured reserve for the rest of the season because of the hip injury that’s kept him out that long. Coach John Harbaugh said that Pitta has been moving around well at practice, but that there’s still been no firm decision about bringing him onto the 53-man roster.

“We’ll go through this week and see how he does,” Harbaugh said, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com. “If he can play, he will. We want to get him up. That’s our goal. It’s not 100 percent certain at this point.”

The Ravens must make a call about Pitta by Saturday afternoon if they want to have him active for the Vikings.
