Seahawks in uncommon role of underdogs Sunday at San Francisco

Numerous Nevada sports books have made the 49ers 2.5-point favorites over the visiting Seahawks on Sunday in San Francisco, according to multiple line-monitoring websites.

If you did a double-take seeing 11-1 Seattle as an underdog, you couldn’t be blamed.

According to “The Linemakers” of Sporting News, only the Seahawks and Broncos had been favored in each of their first 12 games.

The Broncos are currently big favorites against the Titans on Sunday, so their favoritism streak looks safe.

The Seahawks were last underdogs in the 2012 divisional round at Atlanta. They fell 30-28 to the Falcons, who were three-point favorites.

  1. Hey illogical voice, how are those 3 wins treating you? Anyways, doubt the hawks. Expect a dominate performance by them

    34-10 pedhawks (Lolz)

  2. This game will be a very close one, IMO. I’m rooting for the Seahawks, of course, but I won’t be discounting the Niners.

Regardless of who wins, I don’t see this being a blowout game at all, although I wouldn’t mind seeing the Hawks blow them out again.

Bad part is, when the Hawks were in the AFC, the Niners were my NFC team of choice. Sucks that they’re in the same division these days.

  3. So since they were right last year this game…they must be right!!! so was Vegas right on the point spread when they played new orleans? nope.

  4. jdubb84: yes Vegas was right on that spread because the spread is based on betting activity NOT how much they think a team will win by.

Vegas doesn’t care about who will win by how much, they care about getting the spread so they can get betting activity to be spread out amongst the teams so they won’t lose big money on a game. That’s why betting lines go up and down, to get people to start betting the other way.

  5. The line has got nothing to do who the sportsbook thinks will win the game but to encourage betting. The sportsbook gets a percentage of each bet made and will generally make money on the game and it doesn’t matter which team wins

  6. Logical give it up.
The stats back it up that RGME, RGKNEE OR my personal favorite RGenie ( 3 wishes urmm i mean wins is all you get) is useless.
Andrew luck had more passing yards and comebacks then he ever did. Plus Andrew uses the scramble WHEN NEEDED. And luck has pocket presence.

Krapernick is just RG3 except a better thrower. Ive noticed ever since we (colts) spanked em, i havent haerd much about the 9ers much.
Seattle will once again have their way with them.

Credit goes to swagzy for yhe joke

As you can tell, Seahawk fans don’t have many friends…

That’s OK, because it appears Vikes fans have the same issue.

  8. I don’t see this as a close game at all. Hawks KEEP getting more polished with each game they play.

    GO HAWKS!!! 31-17

  9. awww yes there is not a post on here without pftpoet coming on and “trying” to talk trash about another franchise.. what’s the Vikings record again??? yeah that’s what I thought

  10. “Dec 7, 2013 9:00 PM
Rg3 is the Brad Pitt of the football world. Who’s with me?”
Didn’t you mean the Ferrina (Our Gang – Little Rascals) of the NFL? I swear bacon and eggs can talk.

  11. I dont really get why everyone and their mothers think the niners are gonna win this. The seahawks have shown nothing but talent the past few weeks, but the niners have seriously struggled throwing the ball. Sure Kaep had good numbers against the Redskins trash defense, but the hawks wont be sitting back like that. I expect a good game from their defense, but i highly doubt the niner offense puts up more than 17 points.

  12. Have to respect SF at home. Las Vegas obviously does. Looking forward to a great game by both. Go Hawks!

  13. The seahawks will win without question, the better team always does.
The real question is when will the whiners quit? In September they got in two and a half solid quarters of football before they gave up. This time last year they didn’t eaven show up.

  14. I expect 9ers to run the ball down the Hawks’ throat all day. Should be a very good game. Wouldn’t be surprised to see 9ers win., but expect Hawks to pull out a close one.

  15. It amazes me how few people really understand the bookmakers’ “line”. The spread is adjusted to entice equal betting on each side of the spread. The house makes money on the service it provides by allowing people to place bets; a commission in other words. It makes no difference who wins the game to the bookmakers, as long as they have an equal amount of money on both sides of the bet!

You were the fourth post in. Must be a new post record for you regarding a Seattle article.

Nice job! Try harder to be the first poster next.

  17. Didn’t the line open at 3 earlier this week? Bets were probably stagnant so they dropped the line to create activity.

Wish McFly would drop a sports almanac at my door step for games over the next 20 years.

  18. All the ‘experts’ said the Hawks/Saints game was ‘going to be close’.

    How’ed that turn out?

Sounds like a lot of Hawks fans are going to the game.

Maybe you bandwagon Niner’s fans can watch them cheer, and learn how.

I seriously doubt you’ll have much to cheer about at the beginning of the 4th quarter…

When the Hawks put their back ups in!

    Go Hawks!

  19. 49ers are a great team good defense great coaching (even though I hate harbaugh) its a great test for my hawks. candlestick is tough. if the whole ride was easy I wouldn’t want it at all. let’s go competition!

  20. I’ll take the hawks + 2.5 points with no hesitation. They’ll probably win outright anyway without the point spread.

  21. I don’t know why the NFL is trying to pump this game up. It really means nothing. Seaderall Seahawks will win that division, And the 9ers will be the wildcard.

  22. Wouldn’t the fact that the home team is favored by less than 3 points show that Vegas actually expects it to be an “either team could win” game? I mean 3 points are automatically given to the home team regardless.
