Seahawks defense smothers Giants in first half

The Seahawks want to play at MetLife Stadium in February and their scouting trip has been a big success thus far.

They lead the Giants 13-0 at halftime after holding the Giants to 54 yards and picking Eli Manning off three times. The final pick came on a Hail Mary effort just before the half when Richard Sherman came down with his second wounded duck of the game. Sherman now has a league-leading 14 interceptions since the start of last season and Manning now has a league-leading 23 interceptions for this season.

The Giants defense has done a good job when they haven’t been handed a mess by the offense. Their pass rush has been particularly effective, dropping Russell Wilson three times, but the overall pressure that the offensive ineptitude has placed on their shoulders has been too much.

If the offense can’t do something else in the second half, the Seahawks will cruise to another step toward home field in the playoffs. If they get that, they’ll be heavy favorites for that return visit to New Jersey.
