Xavier Rhodes, Chris Cook both out for Vikings

With Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart both injured, running back has been a big focal point for the Vikings this week.

As expected, both backs have been deactivated for Sunday’s game against the Eagles. That leaves untested Matt Asiata and Joe Banyard to carry the load in the running game, which is a tough draw. It’s even tougher because running back isn’t the only spot where the Vikings will be missing bodies.

The Vikings placed Josh Robinson on injured reserve this week, leaving Chris Cook and Xavier Rhodes as the top two cornerbacks on the roster. Well, they would be the top two corners on the roster if they were healthy enough to play on Sunday but they aren’t and the Vikings will be awfully thin at the spot as a result.

Rhodes’ absence was expected as he was listed as doubtful because of an ankle injury. The team was more hopeful about Cook, who is battling a knee injury, but things didn’t go their way. Shaun Prater, Marcus Sherels and Robert Steeples are the corners who will be trying to slow Nick Foles and put an end to Philly’s five-game winning streak.

  1. Now if this was GB, the fans would be drinking the kool aid and just dreaming and saying their patent statement… “next man up”….

But let’s be realistic here… Who are these guys?

I suppose high school football ended a month ago in MN with the state championships, and frazier went out and picked up a few kids. Guess their talent will be about like cooks…

Can’t predict a score. Eagles will probably score every possession. Vikings could score on half of theirs. Neither of these D’s deserve to be on the field. (atleast at the NFL level)
