With Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart both injured, running back has been a big focal point for the Vikings this week.
As expected, both backs have been deactivated for Sunday’s game against the Eagles. That leaves untested Matt Asiata and Joe Banyard to carry the load in the running game, which is a tough draw. It’s even tougher because running back isn’t the only spot where the Vikings will be missing bodies.
The Vikings placed Josh Robinson on injured reserve this week, leaving Chris Cook and Xavier Rhodes as the top two cornerbacks on the roster. Well, they would be the top two corners on the roster if they were healthy enough to play on Sunday but they aren’t and the Vikings will be awfully thin at the spot as a result.
Rhodes’ absence was expected as he was listed as doubtful because of an ankle injury. The team was more hopeful about Cook, who is battling a knee injury, but things didn’t go their way. Shaun Prater, Marcus Sherels and Robert Steeples are the corners who will be trying to slow Nick Foles and put an end to Philly’s five-game winning streak.
