After a short-week loss to the Chargers, the Broncos were still a bit short-handed when they returned to work Monday.
While it was essentially an extra day of work before this week’s game at Houston, the Broncos were without wide receiver Wes Welker, according to Mike Klis of the Denver Post.
Welker missed last week’s loss after suffering his second concussion in a month. Whether he’s cleared to work Wednesday or later in the week will carry far more weight.
Quarterback Peyton Manning also got most of the day off to rest. Defensive lineman Derek Wolfe (illness) and cornerback Kayvon Webster (broken thumb) were out as well.
Not that they don’t take every opponent seriously, but the Broncos do have a reasonably easy time of it down the stretch, finishing with the Raiders after this week’s date with the Texans. By winning both, they can secure the top seed in the AFC playoffs and home field advantage.
