Aaron Rodgers: Playoff picture won’t impact whether I play

During his weekly radio show on Tuesday, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made sure to thank Ravens kicker Justin Tucker for hitting the 61-yard field goal that beat the Lions on Monday night.

Tucker’s kick dramatically improved the Packers’ playoff position, giving them a clear shot at the division title if they can win their two remaining games. That opportunity won’t make it more likely that Rodgers returns to the lineup from his broken left collarbone, however.

“It’s amazing that we’re sitting here 7-6-1 with a chance to win two and be in,” Rodgers said, via ESPN Wisconsin. “Not only that, but win two and be in and maybe be the three seed. [But] I don’t think it really influences my thought process any more than playing last week and wanting to be out there last week did.”

There wasn’t much new in terms of Rodgers’ chances of playing in Week 16. Rodgers said he felt “closer” last week and protested the decision to sit him out, although he ultimately accepted it was in his best interests. Mike McCarthy said Monday that the team is preparing Matt Flynn to start again, but that Rodgers will be evaluated again on Wednesday.
