PFT on NBCSN: Coaching hot seat, power rankings

Week 15 is over and that means it is time for Pro Football Talk on NBCSN to take stock of where things stand in the NFL.

We’ll do that in two ways. One is by taking our weekly look at the coaching hot seats around the league to see where they may be openings come January. It may be too late in the season for any coaches to take themselves off the seat entirely, but we’ll discuss which ones are going to be feeling the most heat in the next couple of weeks.

It’s also the day to talk about power rankings and see how losses by the top three teams in the AFC and the Saints in Week 15 have shaken up the order.

It all gets started at 5:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

  1. Rex will be gone.
Rex was gone the minute Idzik agreed to take on Ed Reed.
Idzik wants younger players competing, not vets the coach feels loyalty for, and there was no reason to get in a fight with Rex about it.
    So Rex got his way.

  2. HC’s to likely get the axe: Schano, Schwartz, Frazier, Allen, Garrett, Shanahan, Rex Ryan. Maybe: Tomlin, Coughlin,

Assistants likely to get the axe: Kiffin, Haslett, son of Shanahan, Haley, the guy with the Incognito mess in Miami.

The entire group of zebras. (Hire full timers, fellas)

  3. Dallas for sure.
Rex, while we all dont like him, he at least has shut his mouth and gone to work. But I get it….time for him to go.
The rest can get another year.

  4. Broadcasters, I meant.

And on this subject: how I yearn for the mimimalist Pat Summerall for play-by-play.

Can’tr stand the ESPN MNF crew, and the most Fox crews. In fact, I’d beg the NFL to bring back games on NBC and CBS and flip the Sunday game to Fox.

Buck is a baseball guy and should stay there. Tirico is not a good play-by-play guy and Gruden is annoying.

And these pre game shows need some serious streamlining. Too many people, too much yelling, laughing, etc. Remember when it was just two or three people on a set? “You are looking live”

Ands for crying out loud, networks, you can’t find some female play by play folks? They exist and some are very good…(se Olympics coverage, basketball coverage, college football, etc.)

  5. I don’t see how you can fire the Allen (Raiders). He’s overachieved with what they have if you ask me. 70 mil of dead $ and will spend that next year.

  6. keep Frazier, send Musgrave and Williams packing
looks like team like Leslie but need a more on offense and please get a decent dc man do we need one bad

  7. If Shanahan is not fired, the league should apologize to all the coaches who ever were. If having three out of four years of double-digit losses doesn’t get a coach fired, nothing should.

“Here’s who it should be: Garrett, Shanahan, Ryan, Schwartz, Schiano, and whoever coaches the Raiders.”

I agree with Garrett, Shanahan, and Schwartz- they all have plenty of talent on their team.

Schiano, and Ryan might collectively have the worst rosters to deal with in the league. Honestly, what coach is going to win with that talent? Between those two teams, I can only think of one (Vincent Jackson) skilled position player that would make the starting lineups on any of the best 10 teams in the league. Just saying.

  9. Dear Santa:

Please don’t let Wrecks Ryan get fired. There is no coach in the NFL that is a greater source of entertainment.

    – Signed, every non-Jets fan in the NFL.
