Dolphins off to slow start in Buffalo

The Dolphins just need to win their final two games of the regular season to qualify for the playoffs, something that seems well within their reach with the Bills and Jets on the schedule.

They’re going to need to step things up against the Bills in the next 43 minutes, though. The Dolphins have just one first down and 15 yards of offense through three possessions and Fred Jackson’s nine-yard run in the second quarter has the Bills up 10-0 in Buffalo.

The Bills have not been afraid to throw the ball deep with Thad Lewis, with long receptions by Robert Woods and Lee Smith setting up each of the team’s two scores. The Buffalo defense has also sacked Ryan Tannehill three times to keep the Dolphins from generating any kind of momentum offensively. The Dolphins have hurt themselves with penalties and dropped passes as well during their rocky start.

Buffalo’s efforts to remain in front will be compromised by losing wide receiver Marquise Goodwin to a knee injury. The Bills are already playing without Stevie Johnson, who spent the week in California after the death of his mother.
