Redskins grab lead after two Cowboys turnovers

They’re not waiting for the fourth quarter this time.

The Cowboys started the second half with a 14-6 lead over the Redskins, but they’re down 20-14 with 3:41 left to play in the third quarter. Turnovers are the biggest reason why fortunes have changed in Washington.

Tyler Clutts fumbled after catching a pass on the third play of the second half and Redskins cornerback Josh Wilson recovered to put the Redskins in business inside Dallas territory. Pierre Garçon caught an eight yard touchdown pass seven plays later and the Redskins were within a point.

The next Cowboys drive ended when DeAngelo Hall picked off Tony Romo on a pass that was intended for Dez Bryant. Bryant slipped, Hall undercut the pass and the Redskins were back in possession of the ball. Garçon had a 19-yard catch and Alfred Morris did the rest, running five times for 28 yards and a touchdown to put Washington in the lead.

Garçon has set a Redskins record for most catches in a single season and has 144 of the Redskins’ 169 passing yards so far this afternoon. The Cowboys might want to try to slow him down and hold onto the ball the rest of the way.
