Report: Romo receives epidural injection

Romo

The smell of burning Christmas Eve candles suddenly has been blended with the whiff of impending ESPN-on-ESPN crime.

With Adam Schefter already reporting unequivocally that Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo won’t play on Sunday night against the Eagles, Ed Werder and Todd Archer of ESPN now report that Romo has received an epidural injection to relieve pain and reduce inflammation in his injured back. The Cowboys hope the treatment will allow him to play on Sunday night.

Obviously, if there was no chance Romo will play with the injury, there would be no reason to try to prepare Romo to play with the injury.

The delicate balance has been struck via an explanation from Werdcher that Romo is a “long shot” to play and that sources close to Romo still believe he won’t be able to play.

While Romo remains likely to miss the Third Annual NFC East Championship game, the latest ESPN report indicates it’s not quite the sure thing that the initial ESPN report predicted.
