Calvin Johnson not present at practice on Thursday

As the Lions began their penultimate practice of the season, their top wide receiver was not among the on-field participants.

Calvin Johnson, who’s dealt with a knee injury for much of the season, was not seen at practice early on Thursday, Tim Twentyman of DetroitLions.com reported.

Johnson also missed practice on Wednesday.

In spite of the injury, Johnson has played to his high standard this season, catching 84 passes for 1,492 yards and 12 touchdowns. The question now is whether he’ll suit up for the Lions’ season finale at Minnesota with Detroit eliminated from postseason contention.

Lions coach Jim Schwartz indicated Wednesday that Johnson could be a game-time decision, Twentyman said.

  1. Don’t risk it Mega, and sit it out. This game means nothing, except that it’s the last time you’ll see Schwartz wearing Lions gear.

  2. Calvin should demand a trade from this joke of a franchise. schwartz should have been fired Monday. And until ownership comes to understand that fantasy football stats don’t win games Matt will never amount to anything but a stats guy. Fix his mechanics for Pete’s sake.

  3. Man I hate Jim Swartz undoubtedly the WORST coach in the nfl. I know this column is about megatron but I had to throw that in there. I’d love nothing more than for Jim to b watching at home nxt year. GO TO HELL JIM!!!!!!!!

  4. A nagging injury that hasn’t had a chance to heal properly all season. Let him sit this one out, there is nothing to gain by having him out there.

  5. What! How could any player let slip the chance to play in the final game to be played in the metrodump? It’s destined to be a weekly rerun on espn classic for the next 50 years.

It’s a toss up for me if I want the vikes to win or lose. If they win they worsen their draft pick and losing the final game ever played in the metrodump would be another historical laughable blemish which makes up the bulk of their history.

  6. Shut Megatron and all the starters down. Let the back ups get a lil bit of experience. Get our loss and hopefully improve our draft position. Fire Schwartz. Get new coach.
