The Packers made the first big mistake in Sunday’s NFC North title game, and the Bears made Green Bay pay.
Jay Cutler’s four-yard TD pass to running back Matt Forte gave the Bears a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter in Chicago.
The touchdown capped an eight-play, 80-yard drive that started after Bears safety Chris Conte intercepted Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the endzone. On the play, Rodgers rolled right and threw on the run, but Conte read the play well and made the pick.
It’s unclear whether Rodgers was intending the pass for wideout Jarrett Boykin or tight end Andrew Quarless. Conte was covering Quarless on the play but drifted off of him to make the pick.
On the Packers’ next drive, Green Bay drove deep into Chicago territory, but Rodgers was picked again, this time by Bears cornerback Tim Jennings, who caught a pass that hit off of Jordy Nelson’s hands. Rodgers’ pass was a little high.
