With a wild-card spot for the taking, the Chargers’ defense got off to a poor start Sunday against Kansas City.

Luckily for the Chargers, their offense came ready to play.

Philip Rivers’ 22-yard TD pass to tight end Ladarius Green evened the score at seven with 10:44 left in the first quarter in San Diego.

The Chiefs, who are starting backup quarterback Chase Daniel and a host of reserves on offense, scored first on a 17-yard TD run by rookie tailback Knile Davis less than two minutes into the game.

The Chiefs also got a 48-yard completion from Daniel to wideout A.J. Jenkins on the five-play, 80-yard scoring drive.

The Chiefs are locked into the No. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs and appear likely to take the season finale as an opportunity to give quite a few backups a chance to play. The Chargers, meanwhile, will clinch the No. 6 seed in the AFC with a victory.
