Redskins deny 10 a.m. press conference report

At this point, every expectation is that the Redskins will fire coach Mike Shanahan, and soon.

The timing is still a matter of debate.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the team was planning a press conference for “around 10 a.m. tomorrow,” presumably to announce the change.

Of course, Redskins PR executive Tony Wylie has since tweeted that there is no press conference scheduled for 10 a.m.

That doesn’t mean there won’t be one, or that it won’t be in the general range of mid-morning.

But the meeting between Shanahan and owner Daniel Snyder is being described as “perfunctory,” so the timing is largely inconsequential.
