Adam Vinatieri’s become well known for his postseason kicking exploits, but he wasn’t looking ahead to the potential for more playoff glory during Week 17.

Vinatieri made all three field goals he tried and added three extra points in Indianapolis’ 30-10 victory over the Jaguars last Sunday, which was sufficient cause for the NFL to name him the AFC special teams player of the week.

Vinatieri made 35-of-40 field goals overall this season, setting new career highs for both makes and attempts. It was also Vinatieri’s most accurate performance on field goals since the 2010 season.

When Vinatieri first steps on the field this weekend, it will mark his 26th career playoff game. That will tie Bill Romanowski and Larry Cole for the third-most playoff games in a career and he would tie Jerry Rice for the most of any player in history if the Colts should advance to the Super Bowl this year.
