With the 49ers threatening to blow open early in the second quarter a wild-card playoff game at Lambeau Field, the Packers made a big play.
Cornerback Tramon Williams intercepted a Colin Kaepernick pass to tight end Vernon Davis deep in Green Bay’s end of the field. Williams then ran roughly 50 yards across the field and 17 yards up it, before dropping a shoulder (and possibly the crown of his helmet) into Kaepernick to end the play.
No flag was thrown for violation of the league’s new rule preventing the use of the crown of the helmet as a battering ram.
The interception apparently has sparked the Green Bay offense. After a trio of three-and-out drives, the Packers have moved the ball deep into Green Bay territory with four straight first downs.
