Payton declines to predict whether Lewis will play Saturday

There’s no new news to report on the health of one of the Saints’ key secondary players.

Asked Sunday whether he believed cornerback Keenan Lewis would be ready for Saturday’s divisional-round game at Seattle, coach Sean Payton declined to make a prediction.

“We’ll keep you guys posted on any of our players,” Payton said on a conference call with media, according to an interview transcript from the club.

Lewis, who has started every game this season, left Saturday’s win at Philadelphia with what the team called a head injury.

A New Orleans native, the 27-year-old Lewis has intercepted a career-high four passes for the Saints, with whom he signed in free agency last offseason.

The Saints’ first injury report of the week will be released on Wednesday.

  2. My guess is that he won’t know until they go through the concussion protocol, so might as well not say anything.

    Seahawks are not going to game plan any differently……Hit hard, run hard, stop the run and stop the pass……

  5. There are five stages to recovery in the RTP protocol. Each stage takes at least 24 hours. Because the Saints game was on Saturday, he has a small chance of getting on the field next Sunday if his concussion is not too severe.

    Building a city at the base of a volcano is a better solution? Hopefully, you’ll never have to bear the burden of that choice, but feel free to attack others on decisions that were made long before they arrived. At least our coffee doesn’t taste like burnt bong water.

    We don’t have hurricanes every year, nor eruptions every year, yes it is a better solution.

    And I’m sure you know what burnt bong water tastes like, because I’m sure you were dumb enough to drink it, given you are dumb enough to build a city below sea level.

    We have to play a good team in a few weeks in the NFCCG. Thank god it’ll be in Seattle.

  15. Doesn’t matter who you’re talking about. It is hard to beat a good team with a smart coach twice in the same season.
    I like the Saints chances because they’re a good team with a genius coach.
    I don’t like their chances because of the PED’s that run rampant in the Seattle lockerroom as well as the blatant disregard for the Mel Blount rule their DB’s exhibit on the field.

  16. I will never understand comments like “building a city below sea level” FYI that was done almost 300 years ago. It has nothing to do with football, or the people from there that make comments on this site.

  18. Saints better pray that Lewis gets back because their defense was a night and day difference vs the Eagles.

    I said it before, pass first teams present a great match up for Seattle. There is a reason they have ranked # 1 vs the pass 2 years in a row. There are 3 All Pro’s in the secondary and a new starter in Maxwell playing lights out. The pass rush like all good teams takes it to a new level at home.

    We have a challenge with KJ out but its almost looks certain Harvin is going to suit up after full participation in practice. This is going to be a fun game. Go Hawks!

  20. I guess it doesn’t matter.

    Fox Sports says NO will beat Seattle, that SF will win it all, and that Karp is a better playoff QB than Manning.

    Seems every time Karp plays GB he becomes the best QB in the NFL.

  22. The game will be closer than the first one; how could it not be?

    But I didn’t see anything vs the Eagles that makes the probable outcome any different.

    I would say the most important thing had nothing to do with the Eagles game. Losing the LB who shut down the best TE in the NFL last time is kind of a big deal.
