The Vikings have been taking their time with their search for Leslie Frazier’s replacement, but things will reportedly take a step forward on Wednesday.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer will interview with the Vikings for their head coaching vacancy on Thursday. He’s the third defensive coordinator to reportedly sit down with Minnesota, joining (for now) Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton and Cardinals defensive coordinator Todd Bowles on the list of interviewees.
Unless they break from the deliberate approach and make Zimmer an offer he can’t refuse, the coach won’t be lingering with the Vikes for too long. Schefter reports that he’s set to interview with the Titans on Thursday. He’ll follow Bengals staffmate Jay Gruden with the Titans after Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator interviewed with Tennessee on Tuesday.
The Redskins and Lions have also believed to have interest in Zimmer, who has been a regular on the head coaching interview circuit for the last couple of years.
