Burglars take cash, jewelry, guns from DeSean Jackson

AP

Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson has at least 375,000 reasons to want a new contract.

According to FOX 29 in Philly, burglars struck at Jackson’s home in South Philadelphia, removing $250,000 in cash, $125,000 in jewelry, and two semi-automatic handguns.

There were no signed of forced entry, but two safes were broken into — and a third safe was stolen.  (Apparently, it was a Kitnerboy Redoubt.)

Per the report, Jackson’s mother told police that his friends have access to the house when Jackson is home, but that Jackson keeps the second floor of the house locked.

Also, neighbors reportedly said that “a lot of people come and go” from the residence.

  1. I feel very bad that this happened to him, but when you give people such open access to your home, and when people know you have money, you’re taking a serious risk by keeping your valuables at your property.

That said, I hope the cops catch the crooks who robbed him.

  2. ESPN BROKE. Why on earth are you keeping that much money in the house. He not out that money. That’s why he pay insurance right?

  3. Do they have banks and safety deposit boxes where this man lives?! Not only that, but he allows “a lot of people to come and go?” Retirement years not looking so secure for DeSean.

  4. What is he doing with a quarter of a million dollars in cash in his home? Does the man not know how to invest?

  5. The dark side of having an entourage.

It only takes one jealous guy to convince the rest of the entourage that they should be rolling in money too.

  6. You keep your friends close. You keep your enemies closer.

When you got all kinds of money you got all kinds of friends, but when your paper get low. They’re they go their they go.

  7. What is the need of a bunch of people at your home? Just plain dumb. What happened to changing people, places and things? There comes a time when you just have to break away so your home isn’t broken into.

  8. Anyone else think it’s odd that he will make a BIG insurance claim right after he found out “no new contract”?

Notice how this doesn’t happen in Pittsburgh?
    ==================================
Mike Adams of the Steelers was stabbed in an attempted robbery in the summer of 2013- in Pittsburgh.

  10. Instead of three crappy safes that can be broken into, and carried away..

Why not just invest in one quality 2 ton safe that cant be broken into and carried out the front door?

  11. Guarantee it was one of his “boys”…you are only as good as the crowd you keep… This would happen in any city … Stop knocking Philly ya trolls

  12. Humankind would be well served, and many forever grateful if “The League’s Crusade Against The Steelers Continues” could find 1) Gainful employment and 2) another cause to trumpet. Being that the Steelers aren’t playing anymore this season, perhaps a degree of reflection as to when to talk trash about your team and when to remain silent would additionally be of some benefit.

  13. Aren’t the guns so you don’t get robbed? Hope your homey who runs your finances had you set up with insurance.

Yeah a guy gets robbed but everyone just makes jokes. Sounds bout right.
    ——————-

No, an egotistical moron got robbed. Continue to point and laugh, folks.

  15. It is good to know that the players really appreciate and retain the information they receive at the rookie symposium as evidenced by the $250,000 laying around the house.

The good news ( bad news from a symposium lesson standpoint) is that this was clearly an inside job. What a shock…..not.

Check back in 10 years if you appreciate unhappy endings. This will not end well.

  18. Why did he have 250k in cash in his house? Just, why?

’cause he likes to make it rain from the 2nd floor

Can anyone account for Ryan Leaf’s whereabouts at the time if the break in?

Yes wonderboy, The Montana State Prison.

  20. I can tell he’s not for the streets.

Don’t ever hang around, or run with a pack of hungry wolves unless you’re starving just like them. If you got what they’re trying to get, they’re gonna take it, if you’re not their kind.

He needs to Let gangsters run with gangsters, and run with football players. People that share his same goals and aspirations.

  21. My question is why are you keeping a quarter million dollars in cash in your house to begin with. That smells really suspicious. Second question is why is DeSean living in South Philly?

    That’s Funny!
There apparently wasn’t any OxyContin there and I think he’s still locked up in prison in Montana.

Maybe he used his debit card at Target over the holidays

  24. Perhaps there is a side business at that location. One where you might not want to trigger automatic reporting of bank deposits in excess of $10,000 to the IRS.

  25. Bad enough he was letting people in and out of his house, but keeping a quarter of a million dollars in cash in his residence?

I can’t imagine any other multimillionaire who isn’t eccentric wanting to do that.

C’mon Man, you gotta put that in the bank where nobody can get it but you.

  26. Sniff… Sniff… I smell insurance fraud

This type of thing only happens to the reckless, flamboyant, arrogant punks among us who hang out with shady players. Everyone else uses banks.

  28. Perhaps he hangs out with some of mike Vicks old friends, I don’t think that he had that much cash on hand, could be an old habit of saying you had more then the truth, with that I leave with this ” there is no cure for stupid “. Bill

  29. If you’re keeping that kind of money at home, you’d better have a massive safe or your own vault. And don’t let your homies have free run of the place.

  30. Sorry he got robbed, but how is that the Eagles problem? Hasn’t he been fronted money in the past after blowing through it? Who would keep that much stuff in what seems like an upscale flophouse?

Yes, Desean Jackson is a dope. I know this. But I don’t think it’s funny. I’m not saying I feel bad for the guy. But I don’t get why it’s laugh out loud funny.

  32. I don’t think I could scrape up $250 in my house. Even if I stole my kids piggie bank!

Check back in a few years and Desean Jackson will be saying the same thing.

  33. I guess losing last weekend was good for him. At least he’s at home now to watch his property. Who knows what would have been missing when he got home playing in the divisional playoff.

  34. Can anyone account for Ryan Leaf’s whereabouts at the time if the break in?
    ———————–

Actually Ryan Leaf grew dreads and is wearing #10 for the Redskins!!!

  35. Ever heard of a bank or a safety deposit box Mr. Jackson? He’s stupid for keeping so much cash and valuables in his house then letting his homies have access to it all.

  36. News is reporting he had an extensive security system that was recently removed. Also there was no sign of forced entry.

    Doesn’t sound shady at all.

  37. $250K in cash in the house, lots of people coming and going at all times…….sounds like, wait a minute…..sounds like…..ILLEGAL ACTIVITY! At least it happened to someone who almost everyone would have a hard time feeling sorry for. Better get your lawyer to file a concussion lawsuit Desean…..you’re gonna need a retirement income.

  38. An extensive security system that was recently removed. Translation: Without the video footage to turn over to the police and insurance company, there are no thieves to identify and Mr. Jackson can claim more items were stolen=Bigger Check.
No app on his phone to alert him of a burglary? With IP Cameras you can view your home in real time. What celebrity these days does not have surveillance cameras? I’m no celebrity, but I’ve had a security/surveillance system since the mid 90’s. Let me guess, the guns were unregistered. For now, he is a Free Bird.

Didn’t another athlete claim come to town and claim he was robbed while staying at the Ritz Carlton, until they showed video footage of a woman leaving the room. Dude had to recant his story.
