Broncos strike first against Chargers, as they’ve done twice before

Manning

Each of the two times the Broncos faced the Chargers during the 2013 regular season, Denver scored on their first drives of the game, via touchdown passes from Peyton Manning.

The Broncos have continued the trend in the postseason.

Manning found receiver Demaryius Thomas for a two-yard touchdown pass to cap a 14-play, 86-yard drive. Per CBS, the seven-minute, one-second drive was Denver’s longest drive of the season.

The effort came after the Chargers punted after converting a pair of third downs (one aided by a face-mask penalty). The Broncos converted a pair of third downs during its touchdown drive.

Manning completed six of eight passes for 68 yards, with four difference receivers catching passes.
