Ka’Deem Carey opts to enter NFL Draft

There won’t be a lot of repeat All-Americans on offense next season.

Arizona running back Ka’Deem Carey announced Monday that he’ll give up his remaining eligibility and enter the NFL Draft, joining every other draft-eligible member of the first-team offense, as chosen by the Associated Press, in choosing the professional ranks over a return to the collegiate life. That leaves only Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and kicker Roberto Aguayo as potential repeat members of the team.

Carey ran for 1,716 yards in 11 games during his final season with the Wildcats, finishing third in the country in rushing behind fellow All-Americans Andre Williams and Jordan Lynch, and scored 18 touchdowns on offense overall. Carey put up 1,929 rushing yards and 24 total touchdowns in 13 games as a sophomore.

Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports reported earlier this month that Carey received a second-round grade from the NFL Draft Advisory Board and he’s likely be one of the first, if not the first, running backs off the board when the draft gets underway in May.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft is Wednesday.
