Seahawks denied Dolphins request to interview McCloughan, at his request

McCloughan

There were no official developments on Tuesday regarding the Dolphins’ search for a General Manager.

Unofficially, we managed to track down the whole story regarding the team’s reported interest in Seahawks senior personnel executive (and former 49ers G.M.) Scot McCloughan.

Per a league source, the Dolphins requested permission to interview McCloughan. The Seahawks denied the request, at McCloughan’s request.

McCloughan isn’t ready to leave Seattle, where he has played an important supporting role in the rise of the team that will face on Sunday the team McCloughan had a direct role in building as the predecessor to Trent Baalke. Players like Frank Gore, Justin Smith, Joe Staley, and Patrick Willis were acquired by McCloughan.

McCloughan joins Ravens assistant G.M. Eric DeCosta as candidates for the Dolphins job who opted to stay put. Chiefs director of pro personnel Chris Ballard similarly opted to remain in Kansas City, in lieu of interviewing for the G.M. job in Tampa.
