Seahawks safety Earl Thomas is going to be playing at the stadium that Giants safety Antrel Rolle calls home on Super Bowl Sunday, which means he won’t be in Hawaii on Sunday for the Pro Bowl.

It was announced Monday that Rolle will be taking his place. Rolle is going to the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career and his addition assures that the two teams that call the MetLife stadium home won’t be shut out of the game. No Jets or Giants were named to the initial roster.

Rolle was not thrilled when he found out that he’d been passed up last month. He took to Twitter to air his grievances with the selection process.

“Tell me which safety has better numbers and made more game changing plays than me this year???? I’ll wait!!!! This probowl sh-t is a joke,” Rolle wrote.

Rolle wasn’t wrong about his credentials. His play helped spark defensive improvement that allowed the Giants go 7-3 after their 0-6 start. Rolle started 16 games, intercepted six passes and made 98 tackles. Rolle’s entering the final year of his contract and is a candidate for an extension thanks to both his play this season and his $9.25 million cap figure.
