Alex Smith in, Tom Brady out for Pro Bowl

This week has seen plenty of changes to the Pro Bowl roster because the Super Bowl takes precedence for players from the Broncos and Seahawks.

Players from the teams that lost in the conference championship games are also bowing out, however. That group includes Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who won’t be making the trip to Hawaii for the game. Brady joins Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson as quarterbacks replaced since the team was originally announced.

Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith will take his place. Smith completed 308-of-508 passes for 3,313 yards, 23 touchdowns and seven interceptions. The completions, attempts, yards and touchdowns all mark career bests for Smith, who will be going to the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. Andrew Luck and Nick Foles have also been named as replacements to the roster, which will be broken up into teams during a draft conducted by Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders.

The Chiefs now have 10 Pro Bowlers, which is the most of any team in the league.
