The Detroit Lions are still piecing together a coaching staff under new head coach Jim Caldwell.

It appeared as though the Lions had Bill Lazor lined up to fill their vacant offensive coordinator position before Lazor elected to head and join Joe Philbin’s staff with the Miami Dolphins instead.

According to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, the Lions interviewed Cincinnati Bengals quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese for their offensive coordinator position on Monday.

Zampese, the son of former NFL coach Ernie Zampese, has served as the quarterbacks coach in Cincinnati since 2003. Zampese has also served as a coach for the St. Louis Rams (2000-02), Green Bay Packers (1999) and Philadelphia Eagles (1998).
