Former Jets offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo is headed back to the NFL.

That might not necessarily be news, except he just took another job less than a week ago.

According to Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post, DeGuglielmo was six days removed from being announced as the new offensive line coach at the University of Maryland, when the school sent out word he was leaving.

“I would like to congratulate Dave on this exciting opportunity for his career,” Coach Randy Edsall said in a statement. “Dave is a great coach who brings a wealth of experience and will be a valued asset at the next level. We are honored that NFL teams pursue members of our coaching staff as we feel this is a compliment to our program.”

The NFL team in question was not named, though DeGuglielmo cited “family issues” and “an opportunity that I could not pass up” in the statement announcing his departure. He had previously worked for the Giants and the Dolphins as well.
