The Dolphins’ general manager search is reportedly set to move into its next phase this weekend.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports that the Dolphins will interview at least two finalists for the job and there’s optimism around the team that they will have a general manager in place early next week. Per Salguero, the team is calling the candidates who have interviewed for the job to invite them back for another round or thank them for their time.

One man they won’t have to call is Jason Licht, who became the G.M. in Tampa this week. Licht interviewed with the Dolphins and there were reports they made a run at hiring him before he took that job, although Salguero reports that the Dolphins had only informed Licht that they were interested in having him back for the final round.

Licht took the sure thing, leaving the Dolphins with six candidates who have interviewed for the job. They are Titans exec Lake Dawson, Bucs exec Dennis Hickey, Lions exec Brian Xanders, Steelers exec Omar Khan, Browns exec Ray Farmer and current Dolphins assistant G.M. Brian Gaine.
