Cam Cameron says he’s not leaving LSU after report of Browns interest

The Browns need a new offensive coordinator, but it doesn’t look like it will be Cam Cameron.

Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that the Browns were “considering” Cameron as Mike Pettine’s offensive coordinator, but Cameron acted quickly to put out word that he’s not interested in leaving LSU. LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette sent out word via Twitter that Cameron spoke to him and said he’s not going anywhere and that he plans to be in Baton Rouge for a long time.

Cameron didn’t leave the NFL in the best shape when he was fired as the Ravens offensive coordinator just before they made their run to the Super Bowl XLVII title, but he put together an effective unit in his first year at LSU after years of struggling to score points in the SEC.

Assuming Cameron sticks to his plan to remain in the college ranks, the Browns will turn their attention toward other candidates. Former Texans coach Gary Kubiak has been floated as a possibility, albeit an unlikely one, as has former Titans offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains.
