Reports: Scott Linehan meeting with Cowboys on Monday

New York Giants v Detroit Lions

<> at Ford Field on December 22, 2013 in Detroit, Michigan.

Leon Halip

The Cowboys and ex-Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan are reportedly having a face-to-face meeting on Monday.

According to Albert Breer of NFL Network, the two sides are talking at club headquarters today. Also, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Linehan is interviewing for a job with the club.

Linehan was the Lions’ offensive coordinator from 2009 through 2013. He also has coordinated offenses in Miami (2005) and Minnesota (2002-2004).

If Linehan were added to the Cowboys’ coaching staff, it remains to be seen what would happen to Bill Callahan, the club’s offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and play-caller in 2013.

UPDATE 4:11 p.m. ET: Breer reports that Linehan appears to be “a good bet” to join the Dallas staff after meeting with Cowboys coaches on Monday. Also, Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Callahan will remain in Dallas for the 2014 season, though Linehan, if hired, would be the play-caller.
