The Browns, who have yet to hire a defensive line coach, have been given permission to interview Bills defensive line coach Anthony Weaver, BuffaloBills.com reported on Tuesday.

Weaver has worked with and played for new Browns coach Mike Pettine for much of his NFL career. Weaver was the Jets’ assistant defensive line coach in 2012 when Pettine was defensive coordinator on Rex Ryan’s staff. Pettine joined the Bills as defensive coordinator in 2013, and Weaver also joined the Buffalo coaching staff, moving up to D-line coach.

Weaver, 33, was a Ravens defensive lineman from 2002 through 2008, notching 257 tackles and 15.5 sacks.
