The Seattle Seahawks elected to remain indoors at the New York Giants facility in East Rutherford, N.J. on Wednesday, but with a little caveat.

According to the pool report from practice by Peter King of TheMMQB.com and Football Night In America, Seattle opened the doors at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center to lower the temperature in the Giants’ indoor practice facility.

“The turf out there is somewhat frozen, and the turf in here is good,’’ head coach Pete Carroll said, explaining why he chose to work inside for the late-afternoon practice. “And if we could get the temperature anywhere near what it will be Sunday—it could be anywhere from the low twenties to the mid-thirties—that’s what we wanted. And it’s supposed to be about 36 in here, maybe a little lower right now. It’s close to what we’ll have Sunday.”

The temperature outside for Seattle’s practice was 22 degrees at the midway point of practice. Inside the building where the team was practicing, the temperature was a still chilly 36 degrees.

With the weather report continuing to improve for Super Bowl Sunday, it’s still plenty cold enough to simulate the conditions (minus the wind) they will be facing by kickoff.
